Join us this Spring to find out how to create an organic summer food garden.
We were planning a series of 90-minute workshops to start on Saturday, 11 September and run for 6 weeks. But as we’ve been and continue to be in a COVID Lockdown we feel all we can offer is it compressed into one weekend. We reckon we’ll be in Alert Level 2 by Saturday and Sunday, 16 and 17 October, so these are the new dates.
We’ll start at 9am at Jan’s garden in Henderson and finish at 3pm. We’ve added an extra $5 a day for a light lunch to be included which takes the cost of the weekend to $130 per person.
The days will look like this:
Saturday, 16 October
WORKSHOP 1: Seed sowing, pricking out or transplanting, growing media, seed saving
WORKSHOP 2: Hot composting, worm farms and Bokashi, fertilisers and additives (rock dust, lime), aerating soil, mulching, making garden beds, carbon, calcium, humates
WORKSHOP 3: Leafy greens, herbs, microgreens and sprouts, keeping up the supply
Sunday, 17 October
WORKSHOP 4: How to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, chillis, capsicums, potatoes and kumara
WORKSHOP 5: Companion planting, pests and diseases, organic herbicides and fungicides, flowers, green manure crops, bees
WORKSHOP 6: Planting and pruning pip and stone fruit, berries, nuts, subtropicals especially citrus
